Our team has a deep understanding of Indian industry including, and in particular, family and promoter controlled companies. A key differentiator is our ability to forge sustainable relationships with controlling shareholders and our close personal involvement which usually extends even beyond the investee company, to promoters and their families. We benefit from international exposure as well, having working experience in several global markets.

We bring industry experience, as well as technical, financial, operating, and transactional capabilities which enable us to contribute to the success of our portfolio companies at multiple levels. Ramesh Venkat – Founder & Managing Partner
Ramesh Venkat Ramesh Venkat is the Founder and Managing Partner of Fairwinds Asset Managers and heads Fairwinds Private Equity. Ramesh has over 25 years of experience across leading corporate groups and banks in India in general management and finance. He started his career with Unilever India and thereafter held progressively senior positions in two multinational banks, ANZ Grindlays Bank and Credit Lyonnais. Subsequently, he worked with two large Indian corporate groups, Vedanta Resources plc and Reliance (ADA) group in senior management and board positions. His work experience and areas of expertise include M&A, privatization, corporate finance, investment banking as well as managing businesses and companies in diverse industries. He was also involved in a family FMCG business in an entrepreneurial role as Director, responsible for growing the business threefold in that period, and for its eventual sale to a global leader in the industry.
Ramesh holds a Ph.D. in Management Studies from the University of Bombay, India, specializing in Competition and Conflict Strategy. He is a Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant and Company Secretary, having qualified with all-India (top 10) rankings in all of these courses.
He has been a guest or visiting faculty and speaker in management institutes including the IIM, Eurofinance and Euromoney training programs, the Bankers Training College of the Reserve Bank of India and programs of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Ramesh is a regular contributor on a wide range of subjects to several business and general publications, and is also actively involved with a non-profit organisation that works with marginalised women and children in Mumbai.
Vinayak Kamath - Partner
Vinayak Kamath Vinayak is a Partner with Fairwinds Private Equity since 2016. He has nearly 23 years of experience including 11 years in Alternative assets.
Prior to Fairwinds, Vinayak was Chief Executive Officer at Gadgil Holdings, managing the family office and overseeing six businesses owned by the family office in sectors such as retail, jewellery eCommerce, real estate, media, hospitality and manufacturing. During this tenure, he has led the reorganization of the portfolio, raising debt, and turned around two underperforming companies.
He earlier founded and ran VIVA Capital, an early stage investment proprietary fund, making six investments of which three have been exited. Prior to VIVA, Vinayak worked as Director at Halcyon Private Equity where he was a member of the Operating Board of PI Industries, which returned in excess of 10x of the entry valuation. During this tenure, he had extensive transaction and operating experience including the buyout of Global Boards.
Vinayak has earlier worked with Genpact (formerly GE Capital Information Services) Accelya Kale and The Arvind Mills.
Vinayak is a Mechanical Engineer from BITS Pilani and holds an MBA from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute, Mumbai.
Rajiv Sharma – CFO
Rajiv  Sharma Rajiv is the CFO of Fairwinds Private Equity, and with the Investment Team since 2012. He has a total experience of over 24 years.
Prior to joining Fairwinds Private Equity, Rajiv has worked as CFO at Axis Private Equity, a wholly owned subsidiary of Axis Bank, and earlier as CFO at BTS Investment Advisors where he was responsible for overseeing legal, financial and administrative activities and investor relations. He was also involved in activities like valuation of portfolio, due diligence, fund documents, fund accounting, etc. During his exposure exceeding 6 years in private equity, he has witnessed more than a dozen investments and participated in the due diligence and agreements documentation process. Prior to joining BTS Investment Advisors, his main assignments were with Western India Securities and IFCI Financial Services (a wholly owned subsidiary of IFCI, India’s oldest development financial institution) as Vice President and Financial Controller respectively, each association being for a period of over 7 years.
Rajiv is an MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University and a Fellow Company Secretary from the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. He has also qualified the uniform CPA examination conducted by the New Hampshire Board of Accountancy, USA.
Anand Mundra – Director
Anand Mundra Anand is a Director with the Investment Team since inception. He has a total experience of over 12 years.
Prior to joining Reliance Private Equity, Anand worked with ICICI Venture as Vice President where he was primarily responsible for investments in the real estate sector and active portfolio monitoring. He was also involved in an investment in a stock broking company and evaluating proposals in healthcare and hospitality sectors. Anand worked on evaluating several investment opportunities in the real estate and infrastructure sectors and led ICICI Venture’s efforts in structuring and modeling the funds’ real estate portfolio for a potential listing on the LSE. Anand also worked on investment proposals in various sectors as a Risk Analyst. Prior to ICICI Venture, he worked with ICICI Bank’s Credit Risk Management Group, focussed on lending to both individuals and large Indian corporates.
Anand has experience in investment, credit appraisals, business development, risk analysis, and management areas in various sectors.
Anand is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelors degree in Commerce from DAVV University, Indore.
Siddhartha Mundra - Director
Siddhartha Mundra Siddhartha is a Director with the Investment Team since inception. He has a total experience of over 10 years.
Prior to joining Reliance Equity Advisors (India) Ltd., Siddhartha worked for three years with ICICI Venture, where he was primarily involved in investments in the technology, media and telecommunications sectors. Some of the prominent investments he has been involved with include an investment in Gateway Distriparks Limited, a leading port logistics services provider and an investment in PVR Pictures, a leading company in film production and distribution. In addition, he has had exposure to various sectors such as IT, logistics, healthcare and retail. He was also involved in the active monitoring of portfolio companies across sectors such as aviation, media and IT/ITES. Some of other key investments Siddhartha has worked on were Geometric Software and Deccan Aviation.
Prior to ICICI Venture, Siddhartha worked for two years with Cisco Systems as a software engineer.
Siddhartha holds a Bachelors degree in Computer Science and Engineering (gold medalist) from the National Institute of Technology, Warangal and received his PGDM from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
Namrata Chotrani – Director
Namrata Chotrani Namrata is a Director with the Advisory Team and has been with the team since 2012. She has a total experience of over 6 years.
Prior to joining Reliance Private Equity, Namrata worked for 4 years with KPMG in its M&A Tax & Regulatory practice in India where she was primarily involved in domestic corporate restructuring, private equity and international investment structuring from a tax & regulatory perspective.
Namrata holds a Bachelors degree in Commerce from H.R. College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai University and is an MBA from INSEAD. She is also an alumnus of the FLAME Value Investment Lab.
Harshvardhan Kulkarni - Vice President - Investor Relations & Fund Raising
Harshvardhan Kulkarni Harshvardhan is Vice President – Investor Relations & Fund Raising and has been with the Fund since 2016. He has a total experience of over 10 years.
He started his career with Tata Realty and Infrastructure Limited where he worked on investor relations and reporting for its offshore real estate fund of US$750 mn comprising large institutional investors & family offices.
Post that, he was handling Investor Relations for the domestic and offshore real estate funds of HDFC Property Ventures Limited with an AUM of approximately US$ 1.3 bn comprising large offshore and domestic institutional investors, financial institutions, banks, corporates and family offices. He has also played a key role in an offshore real estate fund raise of US$ 350 mn comprising investors including pension funds, sovereign wealth funds and large family offices .
Prior to joining Fairwinds Asset Managers, Harshvardhan worked with the real estate private equity and general private equity funds of Motilal Oswal Private Equity in investor relations.
Harshvardhan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from the H.R. College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai University and an MBA from The Mumbai Educational Trust (MET).
